In 1950‘s New York, Howard Prince is down on his luck. A cashier in a local coffee shop by day and a bookie by night, Howard receives an unexpected visit from an old friend. The friend turns out to be a blacklisted writer for the hit television show, ‘Grand Central’.  When Howard agrees to “front” for his friend and pose as the writer, he quickly falls for Florence, who works on the show and believes him to be a new and exciting talent. As Howard’s success escalates he witnesses the tragic consequences of McCarthyism and is faced with the choice between his own stardom, love and social justice.
